Randy and I had a great weekend visiting with our children and grandchildren. The sun was shining as we headed our car toward Corvallis where we were going to stay for the night. We had a great drive regardless of a small storm around Cascade Locks. The clouds were really low over the Columbia River, but it was beautiful anyway. We hit a little bit of rush hour traffic and almost had a bus run us off the road, but we made it in time to see Oregon State's gymnastic team beat Arizona. The Beavers have a top ranked squad and are first place in our conference, so it was packed. I couldn't believe how many people were there. We went because Rich and Debbie were going to be there and I really enjoyed it. Afterwards, Deb and Rich took the kids to Deb's mom's house to put them to bed and then they met us (Tamra, Tucker, Jason (Tamra's boyfriend), Randy and I) at Sherri's. We had some good food and talked and laughed a lot. It was good to see everyone, especially Debbie and Rich, I miss them. After dinner everyone went their separate ways and Randy and I went to our favorite hotel, the Quality Inn in Albany. It is not an expensive place, but it is so clean and the beds are really comfortable. They also have a great breakfast in the mornings. It was nice to relax and enjoy some down time.
Saturday, we met up with Tam and Tuc and took off for Jeremy's house. We were going to watch Caleb play basketball. He did a good job, even got a basket! Alia is cheer leading and we watched a video of her routines. She really looked like a cheerleader. After the game we went back to Jeremy's house and had birthday cake, with song, for Tamra. Her birthday is this week, but we thought we would celebrate it early since we were all there. I can't believe she will be 20 years old this week. Where did the time go! Tucker played us some tunes on Molly's guitar and by a little after 5:00 we were back on the road heading for home.
Sunday we had dinner after church then went in to Terrel and Katie's and visited with Sheri and Brett and Susan for about an hour then headed to Pasco to see Sarah and her family. The babies are growing and getting cuter everyday! We decided Sarah could use a break because Riley was going to be gone to a soccer tournament in Spokane the following day, so we took Morgan and Kendle home to spend the night with grandma and grandpa! We had a great time with the kids and drove them home Monday evening....I don't even want to know how many miles we put on the car this weekend but it was worth it to see all my favorite people. I LOVE my children and grandchildren. The only one we didn't get to see was Jim. Hopefully we can see him soon too!
Even when the world seems like it is going to pot, it is still amazing that we can travel so easily from here to there comfortably....the Tovey van rolls on!!

Health report!
Ok, I have been meaning to write a little bit about what has been going on with me and just haven't had my brain organized enough to do it. I am feeling fairly good however and thought I would give it a try today.
For the past year or so I have been having some recurring infections, (yeast), mainly due to having had two doses of strong antibiotics last year that killed off some good stuff also in my body. Needless to say I have had numerous doctor appointments to get medicine to try and feel better... (almost 1 appointment a month) Anyway, in January I went back for my annual appointment and the doctor was looking over my chart and asked me when the last time I had my blood sugar checked. Well, that was about 20 years ago when I had gestational diabetes with Tamra. Sooo, to make a long story short they checked my blood and I was way high...probably have been running high for a while now...so the reason I am not feeling well is because I have type II diabetes. The good news is no shots but I have to control my eating which means especially the sugars, carbs...everything. (This is not good news for a chocoholic however)
On the up side I have been trying to lose weight for the last 3 months and that is working better now. To date I have lost 15.5 pounds and feel good. It took a while because the first medicine they had me on made my weight go up and I was nausiated and my eyes started going real blurry...so I quit taking that stuff and just tried to eat really good but I was still staying around 180-265 after not eating all night. Now I am on a medicine that doesn't make me feel bad but has a tendency to make you go real low so now I have to make sure I eat enough and test my blood several times a day. (not my favorite thing) Feeling good is the top priority though and I am getting the hang of it.
The weight is coming off slowly and now if I could get more motivated to excercise I would feel even better I am sure. I have been so tired up until now...I think I finally have a handle on it and the perk is that I haven't had another infection either! Yeah!
Dad is feeling better day by day too, so this is good also. I hope the seasons colds and flu will pass you all by. Mostly we all just need a good dose of the SUN!!
